Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Sports Injuries

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy was first shown to help with injuries in the military when divers would spend long hours doing hard physical work under pressure.  When surfacing they would note that they felt refreshed, energetic and decreased muscle pain and joint stiffness. From muscle contusions and ankle sprains to delayed onset muscle soreness, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been used for recovery to facilitate soft tissue healing, quicken healing time in fractures, reduce swelling and get athletes back in the game faster.

After vigorous day to day training, athletes can experience fatigue and physical exhaustion. During hyperbaric oxygen therapy 12-15 times more oxygen is carried throughout the body.  This can accelerate the healing process, increase the immune system and oxygenate muscle for more efficient performance. The number of sports professionals using this treatment for recovery and endurance is increasing every year.  Many of the players with the Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys, FC Dallas and Dallas Stars come to Texas Sports Hyperbarics and our sister clinic Willow Bend HBO to maintain peak performance and/or recover from injuries. PLEASE NOTE:  ATHLETES SPENDING MORE THAN 2 HOURS A DAY IN A HYPERBARIC CHAMBER MAY NOT RECEIVE THE OUTCOME THEY ARE LOOKING FOR.  PLEASE CALL FOR DETAILS! Studies
